Its cold but dry, so we head to Philips park in Whitefield, Manchester, as I quite often do with my rabble. I say my boys are like dogs. They need running or they get cranky. So off we head with a football in hand and get ready for some boys fun. I am totally outnumbered here. And instead of doing girly things like painting my nails and a getting facial, I am playing football and generally getting cold and muddy.
Luckily I was armed with my camera, as we stumbled across 2 park volunteers with a roaring fire cooking the best jackets potatoes I have ever tasted. It was great to find these 2 people who were so informative and kind. Telling me of some great walks I can do with my boys, that I never knew existed, and is right on my doorstep. Which proves the point that you never have to go too far to find fun when you want it.
With the smoke coming from the fire and faces full of food I managed to capture some great memories of my family. Well 2 of them are my sons, and the other 3 may as well be!
The moral of the story……… always carry your camera. You never know what you might find.
If you know of any great places I can visit and take some great portrait photographs in Manchester, Cheshire or Bury, drop me a comment. Thanks, Nicola
So, here for now are some ramblings of a children’s and baby photographer, snapping away in Manchester, Cheshire, Bury & beyond.
As soon I arrived at Nancy’s House in Manchester, I knew it was going to be a ball!
And I was right (unusually!)
What a little bundle of joy this little one year old was, all ready for her first birthday portraits. ADORABLE
It was not long before I was all set up and ready to go (and cup of coffee drank)
She was the dream baby model. Did not stop smiling. I could have stayed with her all day, and mummy and grandma of course!
We has a few outfit changes, followed a bit of a Cake Smash. Mum had arrange for the most amazing Victoria Sandwich to be made, which was incredibly difficult for me not to stuff the whole thing in my mouth as I am a total sugar addict.
So with cream suitably smeared all over her face I took some more portrait photographs of this cute, cute child.
These have to be some of my favourite images for a while. Being a girly girl, and a mother of 2 boys, I love all things pink!

How many times have I heard this one. However there a few few things that make life a little easier when taking portraits of children, whether you are in Manchester of Outer Mongolia!
Take the stress out of herding your tribe, and get Nicola to do the job for you. Hey we all know that our kids do not listen to us, but they will do to ANYONE else who is not their parent. The joy of motherhood guys!
